Welcome to “PD Research: Sounds from Emory”. Listen in as Dr. Thomas Wichmann talks about the Morris K. Udall Center of Excellence in Parkinson’s Disease Research at Emory University in Atlanta. The Udall research centers are funded by the National Institute of Health (NIH). Dr. Wichmann is a neurologist and the principal investigator of the center. The center’s mission is to conduct research that improves our understanding of Parkinson's disease and then to translate that knowledge into better treatments for Parkinson's disease patients. Parkinson’s disease affects more than 1 million people in the United States and is the second-most common neurodegenerative disorder after Alzheimer’s disease.
